South Africa
Where every journey becomes a story
Discover South Africa
South Africa is like my third home. I grew up moving between Zimbabwe and South Africa, and later worked there too. It is a country that stays with you — full of contrast, beauty, history, culture, and incredible landscapes. From the energy of Johannesburg to the coastal calm of Durban and the dramatic scenery of Cape Town, South Africa is a place of heart, heritage, and unforgettable experiences.
Stories From South Africa
Johannesburg — The City of Gold & Resilience
Johannesburg, or “Joburg”, is powerful, busy, and full of energy. It is the economic engine of South Africa and one of the most dynamic cities in Africa. The city grew from gold-mining roots into a modern metropolis of skyscrapers, highways, malls, and creative districts. It is a place of ambition, reinvention, and constant movement.
Joburg also has a deep cultural side: theatres, galleries, museums, music venues, and street art all tell the story of South Africa’s past and present. It is a city of contrasts — wealth and struggle, modern glass towers alongside historic townships — but also a city of resilience, creativity, and possibility. For anyone with roots in this part of the continent, Johannesburg feels familiar, intense, and full of opportunity.
Cape Town — Mountains, Ocean & Endless Beauty
Cape Town is often described as one of the most beautiful cities in the world — and it truly feels that way. The city sits between dramatic mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, with Table Mountain watching over it all. The combination of rugged peaks, beaches, coastal drives, and city life makes Cape Town feel both wild and refined.
The V&A Waterfront, Sea Point Promenade, Camps Bay, and nearby wine regions all add to the city’s charm. The culture is diverse and layered, with influences from African, European, and Cape Malay heritage. Street markets, art spaces, cafés, and historical sites give Cape Town a rich personality where nature, history, and modern life blend seamlessly.
Durban — Warm Oceans & Coastal Rhythm
Durban sits on the Indian Ocean and offers a completely different feel — tropical, humid, and relaxed. With its long beachfront, warm waters, and palm trees, it is perfect for sunny days, ocean swims, and laid-back coastal living. The Golden Mile, beachfront promenades, and seaside cafés create a holiday atmosphere all year round.
Durban is also known for its rich cultural mix, with strong Zulu and Indian influences showing up in food, music, and local traditions. It is a city where you can eat incredible curry, enjoy the beach, and feel the warmth of everyday life along the coast.
