Belgium

Where every journey becomes a story

Discover Belgium

I visited Belgium twice — once solo and once with my younger siblings. Both trips were short, sweet, and full of charming European beauty. Belgium felt calm, cozy, and easy to explore: stunning architecture, cobblestone streets, canals, chocolate everywhere, and waffles that absolutely lived up to the hype.

Stories From Belgium

Solo in Brussels — Palaces, Statues & Scooters

On my solo trip, I started with a walking tour around Brussels, beginning at the Grand Palace (Grand Place), one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. Surrounded by ornate buildings and golden details, it felt like standing at the center of a fairytale. The energy was vibrant, with cafés, people, and the sweet smell of waffles in the air.

From there, I visited the famous “piss boy” — Manneken Pis — a small statue with a big reputation and a playful place in Belgian culture. Afterward, I continued toward the upper part of Brussels, walking up to the more formal and elegant areas near the Royal Palace. The contrast between lower-town charm and upper-town grandeur made the city feel layered and rich in character.

Of course, I ate plenty of waffles along the way — warm, sweet, and absolutely delicious. To end the day, I used an electric scooter to navigate back to my hotel, gliding through the streets, passing monuments and lights, and enjoying the freedom and fun of the ride.

Bruges & Ghent — Medieval Canals & Storybook Streets

The next day, I went on a day tour to Bruges and Ghent. Bruges felt like a medieval fairytale: canals, stone bridges, stepped-gable houses, horses and carriages, and little chocolate shops on every corner. It was peaceful, romantic, and incredibly picturesque.

Ghent offered a similar historic beauty with a slightly more vibrant, lived-in feel — grand churches, castles, waterfront views, and beautiful streets lined with old façades. Both towns were the perfect mix of history, charm, and calm.

Belgium With My Younger Siblings

When I returned with my younger siblings, we followed almost the same route. We explored Brussels again — from Grand Place to Manneken Pis and the upper parts near the palace — with lots of waffle stops along the way. Then we took them on the same Bruges and Ghent tour, letting them see the canals, historic squares, and storybook views for themselves. Watching them experience it all made the trip even more special.
